Jorginho officially joined the Brazilian team Flamengo, and the two sides signed until June 2028. Brazil's Global Sports said that the signing fee and total three-year salary totaled 84 million Brazilian reals (about 13 million euros). Jorginho then gave an interview.

Why did you choose to leave Arsenal and return to Brazil to play football?

Everything started not long ago. I have been playing football abroad since I was a child and have never had the chance to play football in Brazil, which is my always wish. I believe that after all these years, I have spent most of my career in European football, and now the time has come to return to Brazil. Be able to leave your mark in the country where I was born, in the country where my family lives, in the country where many of my friends live. It makes sense to me and what I want to be close to the Brazilian fans and let them experience it all too. I believe the right time has come and is in the right club. Now let's keep moving forward.

What are your expectations for in Flamenco next?

My expectations are very high and full of motivation. We know how important this is, and how much happiness this motivation can bring, just like what I have experienced in my career at other clubs. I believe it will be no different here.

Your contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this month, but in order to represent Flamenco in the Club World Cup, you chose to terminate the contract early and gave up the prize of 4 million Brazilian real (about 630,000 euros).

The Club World Cup is a special moment and full of huge expectations. I believe that all this will bring a lot of motivation to work better and contribute more.

You will be participating in Flamenco's full-team training for the first time this Saturday morning. Have you met coach Felipe Luis?

I have talked to him. It was a quiet conversation about Brazilian football, the number of games here, the pace of the game, the style of the game he wanted, and his opinion of my position on the court. Tomorrow he wants to show me more.
