Non-oil exports turned from rising to falling, down 3.5% year-on-year in May

The latest data released by the Singapore Enterprise Development Bureau on Tuesday (June 17) showed that my country's non-oil domestic exports increased by 3.7% in the first five months of this year.
In terms of total trade volume, the year-on-year increase of 1% in May, lower than the 14.7% increase in the previous month.
In terms of export markets, Singapore's exports to the United States, Thailand and Malaysia decreased in May, while exports to Taiwan, Indonesia, South Korea and Hong Kong increased.

Non-electronic product exports fell by 5.3% year-on-year, in contrast to the 9.3% increase last month. As the exports of petrochemical products, non-monetary gold and special machinery all shrank, down 17.8%, 25.9% and 11.7%, respectively, the exports of non-electronic products declined.
Compared with the same period last year, electronic product exports rose only 1.7% in May, a gain of less than 23.4% in the previous month. Exports of personal computers, integrated circuits and consumer electronics increased by 50.9%, 4.3% and 49.0%, respectively, making the most contribution to the growth of electronic exports.
