35-year-old giant panda received euthanasia in Hong Kong: health deteriorates before death, equivalent to human 105 years old
According to Hong Kong Oriental Network, the giant panda "An'an" died in Hong Kong Ocean Park on the morning of the 21st at the age of 35, which is equivalent to the age of 105 for humans.
Hong Kong Ocean Park said on the same day that "An'an's health has gradually deteriorated in the past few weeks and has become very weak. Its life has come to an end. After consulting the China Giant Panda Conservation Research Center, veterinarians from the Ocean Park and the Fisheries and Agriculture and Natural Conservation Department endured the pain and allowed "An An" to undergo euthanization, saving it from pain. The park also stated that since the giant pandas "An'an" and "Jia Jia", the long-lived giant pandas, have been the important task of conservation ambassadors since entering the Ocean Park in 1999, and assisted the park in promoting natural ecology and conservation knowledge. The Ocean Park is grateful for the opportunity to take care of "An'an" and "Jia Jia" over the years, and has made the park develop into an important base for giant panda conservation.
