Upon arrival, passengers should declare to the inspection and quarantine agency or customs and go through the entry pet procedures.

Pets have become good friends of many people, but most pets also carry germs. There are more than 200 zoonotic diseases that have been discovered so far, such as plague, hydatid disease, toxoplasmosis, rabies, etc., and their transmission routes include through the digestive tract, respiratory tract and skin contact. Although our country allows tourists to bring dogs or cats into the country, they must go through relevant quarantine procedures and must pass the quarantine before they can enter the country.

According to quarantine requirements, passengers must provide a valid quarantine certificate issued by the official animal quarantine agency of the exporting country or region, as well as proof of rabies vaccination, injection of an international standard electronic chip, or valid identification.

After passing the on-site quarantine, the pet will be transferred to a designated quarantine location by the inspection and quarantine agency for 30 days of quarantine. The Nanjing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has implemented a 7+23-day quarantine for all dogs and cats entering Nanjing Port, that is, 7 days of quarantine at the quarantine site and 23 days of home quarantine. Pets need to undergo corresponding testing items during the quarantine period. Pets that have expired and passed the quarantine must complete the entry pet quarantine process.

It is reported that the Nanjing Airport Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has specially opened a space at Lukou Airport as a quarantine facility for companion animals at the Nanjing Port. It was officially put into use in March this year. The quarantine facility with reasonable layout and advanced facilities has received "residents" from many countries.
