According to sources, Los Angeles FC is interested in signing Tottenham striker Son Heung-min.

The 33-year-old's future at Tottenham is still unclear, and the club chose to activate a one-year renewal option in its existing contract in January to extend the contract to 2026 rather than discuss a new contract. Although new Tottenham coach Thomas Frank praised Son Heung-min's contribution to the club over the past decade, he refused to confirm that he will continue to serve as captain of the new season.

ESPN disclosed in June 2023 that Saudi team Jeddah jointly offered a generous offer for Son Heung-min. Although he chose to stay at the team at that time, Saudi interests still exist. Sources said that if Son Heung-min is willing to leave the team this summer and the club is open, Los Angeles FC has made it clear that it is willing to take action.

Related negotiations are expected to clarify the players' positions, but Tottenham's upcoming pre-season schedule between Hong Kong and Seoul, China, may complicate the situation, and Son Heung-min has extremely high popularity in the region. The team's last game in Seoul is August 3 and will return to Europe to prepare for the Premier League afterwards.

Since transferring from Leverkusen for £22 million in 2015, Son Heung-min has become the seventh player in Tottenham to play 450 times, including directly participating in 198 goals in the Premier League and winning the cup for the club as captain for the first time after defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final.

When asked whether Son Heung-min should have the right to decide his future, Frank said: "This kind of situation is always subtle. At present, what I have is a player who is dedicated, well-trained and will play tomorrow. When the player plays for a long time, the club will eventually need to make a decision. If someone wants to leave at a certain stage, this is indeed possible. But the final decision is always at the club. He is here at this stage, and I am not too worried. Let's look at it in five or six weeks. I guess this question will be asked again next week. I have to practice and answer it in advance. Now, he is here."
