Electric Arts (EA), a well-known American gaming giant, issued an official press release announcing the acceptance of a wholly-owned acquisition proposal worth $55 billion. The deal became the largest wholly-owned sponsor in history to privatize investment, with the acquirers including Newcastle United's funder Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

EA announced an acquisition agreement with PIF, Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, with a transaction value of US$55 billion. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA), a global leader in interactive entertainment, announced today that it has reached a final acquisition agreement with an investment consortium ("consortium") composed of PIF, Silver Lake and Affinity Partners. The all-cash transaction valued EA's corporate valuation at about $55 billion. This deal will enable EA to accelerate innovation and growth to build future entertainment.

Under the terms of the agreement, the consortium will acquire 100% of EA's shares, with PIF extending its existing 9.9% stake in the company. EA shareholders will receive $210 in cash per share. The acquisition price per share is 25% premium to EA's unaffected share price of $168.32 at the close of the market on September 25, 2025 (the last completely unaffected trading day), and is also higher than the unaffected all-time high of $179.01 at the close of the market on August 14, 2025.
