Guardiola: Haaland could have scored four or five goals, we can’t just rely on him, others have to step up

After Manchester City's 2-0 home victory over Everton, head coach Guardiola attended the press conference. Although Haaland scored twice, he stressed that the team cannot rely solely on the Norwegian striker and called on other attackers to share the scoring responsibility.

Are you worried about the team’s excessive concentration of goal points?

Of course. Haaland could have scored four or five goals in the end. He's our key man, what else can I say? But at the same time, we can’t just rely on Him. If we want to do things well, Haaland cannot be the only one. Wingers, attacking midfielders and other players have to step up. The chances we created were very clear and they had to score. Savinho has two (chances), Jeremi (Doku) has two, Tijani (Reinders) has two. At that level, they have to score goals.

Everton also created several good opportunities. What do you think of the team's defense?

Of course they had chances because we conceded the ball a few times ourselves. They are good at playing long balls and fighting for second places, and of course David Moyes' side are really good at those.

How do you evaluate the overall performance of this game?

Overall, this was a well-deserved victory. We created a lot of chances, especially after 1-0. The players who came off the bench, Bernardo and Cherki both made an impact. Rico and Kovacic too. We got another win and it's good to start again after 10 days off.

In the first 20 minutes, this always happens after international breaks. We haven’t quite gotten into the rhythm of the game that we should have. Overall, it was a good game, especially in the second half, and we will spend the night in Champions League place this weekend. This is good.
