Total price of 1 billion pounds + a 10-year long appointment! Financial magazine reveals the Red Army and Adidas break the Premier League record contract
Sports Finance Magazine FCBUSINESS interviewed Liverpool's commercial director Ben Latty, revealing the new huge contract between Liverpool and Adidas.
The magazine said Premier League champion Liverpool has started a record-breaking jersey sponsorship agreement with Adidas this season, and they have reached a contract worth £100 million a year with the German manufacturer.
The 10-year agreement was announced in March and officially launched in August, marking the third collaboration between Liverpool Club and Adidas - previously worked with both sides between 1985 and 1996 and 2006-2012.
In response, Ben Latti said: "According to the provisions in the Nike contract, when we were allowed to contact other brands, we negotiated with all major brands about the jersey sponsorship agreement."
"The agreement was finalized several months before the announcement. Given the complexity and different operating models, our negotiations and dialogues with various jersey manufacturers were very detailed. Ultimately, it depends on what is best for us and our future strategy. We worked hard to make the most of the situation at that time."
"I cannot disclose the specific structure of the new agreement with Adidas; there are many different parts of it that are possible. Make an impact. Overall, we are very happy with Adidas' potential. "
"We had a great five years with Nike, and last season was another record season for the club. The agreement with Nike guarantees the club a guaranteed £30 million a year, plus a royalty of 20% of the club's net sales of products (estimated to be worth around £30 million). And now, the agreement with Adidas marks a shift to a more traditional model of collaboration. "
