Silicon power MOSFET technology breakthrough, with 2.7 times reduction in conductor resistance

The new U.S. power semiconductor company iDEAL Semiconductor announced that its ultra-high efficiency SuperQ™ silicon power components have been officially invested in Polar Semiconductor, injecting new energy into the U.S. local supply chain.
SuperQ is a major breakthrough in the silicon MOSFET architecture. The first time that patents are not called RESURF structures, this design can allow MOSFETs to disperse the electricity evenly under high voltage, avoiding energy concentration to consume. Therefore, it can significantly reduce the conduction resistance and switching consumption while maintaining high pressure resistance.
According to the official news, the phase-transmission resistance reduction is up to 2.7 times, and the switching consumption is reduced by 2.1 times. At present, the first batch of 150V and 200V products have entered mass production and will continue to be expanded to 300V and 400V applications. Polar is also expanding its 200mm crystal plant in Minnesota to support local U.S. demand.
Power semiconductors are key components that support electric motors, AI data center servers, and renewable energy networks. Because they have the characteristics of withstanding high voltage and large currents, they can effectively control and convert power. However, the global market has been led by manufacturers such as Europe (Infineon, STMicroelectronics) and Japan (ROHM, Fuji Electric) for a long time, while the United States is relatively weak in the manufacturing end and has limited production capacity.
As AI data centers and electric vehicles continue to boost power demand, the U.S. Department of Energy (EIA) estimates that data center power consumption will account for 10% of the total U.S. electricity generation in 2030. Therefore, more efficient power semiconductors can directly reduce energy consumption and heat dissipation costs. At the same time, this cooperation is in line with the relevant policies promoted by the Trump administration, strengthens the local supply chain in the United States, and reduces dependence on the European market.
